Licensing

Check what Glyphfield's MIT license covers, which bundled marks, pictures, fonts and code keep their own licenses, and how to credit them when you publish.

Last updated Oct 14, 2026

Glyphfield is released under the MIT License. The license covers Glyphfield's source code and its original artwork, including the Starter identity's artwork under public/templates. It does not cover the assets bundled with the reference identities, the bundled font files, or third-party code and packages. Those keep their own terms.

Glyphfield mark

The Glyphfield mark is a closed G whose crossbar is a lightning bolt that leaves through the G's mouth. It is original Glyphfield artwork. public/brand/glyphfield-mark.svg holds the dark version and public/brand/glyphfield-mark-white.svg the white version. The favicon (src/app/icon.svg) and the social preview images use the same drawing.

The reference identities (Basement, General Translation, Ramp, Mintlify, Tailwind CSS, Vite+, Cloudflare and Stripe) are included for design study and interoperability. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement, and the MIT license grants no rights to third-party trademarks. Do not export or redistribute research-only assets as standalone stock assets. Replace them with owned or licensed files before commercial use.

public/fonts/inter-variable.ttf is Rasmus Andersson's Inter Variable 4.1 (font version 4.001) from rsms/inter, with its optical-size and weight axes and every OpenType feature. inter-variable-latin.ttf is a Latin subset of the same file, used only when a generated SVG embeds its fonts inline. The license text is in public/fonts/inter-OFL.txt.

General Translation artifact pictures

The ten artifact pictures are General Translation's screens of public-domain and Creative Commons originals. Each picture is reduced to a tone grid and printed through an 8 × 8 Bayer matrix. A screen of a public-domain original stays in the public domain. A screen of a CC BY-SA 4.0 original is an adaptation released under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Third-party notices holds the full license texts. It also lists visual references for the original shader studies (Evil Rabbit Shaders, GRADIENTOOL and Grainient) and workflow references for the shader editor (glslCanvas, glslEditor, Paper Shaders, Pixel Play and WebGL Shader Editor). No code or assets from those references are bundled.

Other npm dependencies, such as Three.js, gifenc, Mediabunny, dotLottie, PrismJS and Fumadocs, are installed under their own licenses. Mediabunny, which encodes MP4, uses the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and the others named here use MIT.

Exported artifacts

An export contains whatever its composition uses. A file made with a reference identity can contain that brand's marks, pictures and fonts, and those keep their owners' terms. A file made with your own identity and Glyphfield's original artwork carries no Glyphfield restriction. A font embedded in an exported SVG keeps its own license. Lottie files from LottieFiles keep their individual licenses, so check each one before use.
